We are concerned residents. Almost twenty years have passed since a core group of residents first met to seek Village Green status for the Quinta Open Space. After a five year battle we won! The court ruled in our favour and agreed that the Quinta Field was in fact a Village Green and as such should be protected forever. Since then we have also been involved in a few other campaigns around the neighbourhood to protect our green belt from development. We have also raised awareness to a Road Safety Consultation which would affect the quality of life of local residents. Every time a new issue arose we had a difficult time letting residents of our wider neighbourhood know what's going on. We usually had to knock on doors, distribute hundreds of leaflets and hope for the best. The need to reach a large group of residents via a single newsletter became very clear with each passing campaign.
Our campaigns were all coordinated in an adhoc, "grass-roots" manner. We had never sought to formalise our efforts into an official Residents Association, however, recent events have unfolded and in order for us to represent the best interests of our community within a legal framework then it was necessary to have the weight of a residents association behind us. It was to this end that we created the Quinta Village Green Residents association.
The Quinta Village Green is a beloved space to residents not only because of it's natural beauty but also, thanks to the campaign to save it, we are now a very close knit and well informed neighbourhood - developers beware!
The committee members work on a voluntary basis, 100% of all monies raised by, or on behalf of, the association will be used to further the Association’s aims.
